Pretoria, 23 February 2025 – Mahindra South Africa has reached a momentous milestone, celebrating 20 years of growth, investment, and impact in the country. To commemorate this achievement, the brand hosted the Mahindra Fusion Fest—a dynamic festival that showcased its evolution, cultural integration, and commitment to the South African market. This landmark event set the tone for Mahindra’s next chapter, reinforcing its dedication to innovation, accessibility, and community engagement.

The event was graced by the Honourable Deputy President of South Africa, Mr. Paul Mashatile, who emphasized the power of cultural fusion in fostering unity and understanding. “South Africa’s music and cultural heritage are a rich mosaic of influences, shaped by centuries of interaction between diverse traditions. The Mahindra Fusion Fest is a testament to this vibrant tapestry, blending music, fashion, and art in a way that resonates with our national identity. Diverse people unite, and together, we rise,” he stated.

20 Years of Growth and Commitment

Since its entry into South Africa in 2004, Mahindra has expanded rapidly, solidifying its presence as one of the fastest-growing automotive brands in the country. With over 100,000 customers, 95 dealerships nationwide, and a robust presence in sub-Saharan Africa, Mahindra has invested heavily in local assembly, dealer expansion, and training programs to enhance the customer experience and drive sustainable growth.

Mahindra’s impact extends beyond vehicles, with landmark investments such as the establishment of a local assembly plant at Dube TradePort in Durban in 2018. The recent roll-out of its 20,000th locally assembled vehicle underscores its long-term commitment to South Africa. Additionally, plans for a new, larger assembly facility reaffirm Mahindra’s vision of making South Africa a strategic hub for the brand’s operations in the region.

Over the years, Mahindra has introduced a range of iconic models tailored for the South African market, including the Scorpio, XUV 700, and the award-winning Scorpio-N. These vehicles have cemented Mahindra’s reputation for producing rugged, reliable, and innovative SUVs that cater to local driving conditions and consumer preferences.

Introducing the XUV 3XO: A New Era Begins

The celebration of Mahindra’s 20-year journey coincided with the unveiling of the XUV 3XO, an exciting addition to the compact SUV segment. Representing Mahindra’s ‘Discover the X’ philosophy, the XUV 3XO blends accessibility, cutting-edge technology, and bold design, making world-class SUVs more attainable for a wider audience in South Africa.

“Our journey in South Africa has been about more than just vehicles—it’s about building a legacy of trust, innovation, and community impact. As we enter our third decade, our focus remains on delivering world-class SUVs that align with the aspirations of South Africans while deepening our role as a corporate citizen,” said Veejay Nakra, President – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra and Chairman of the Board, Mahindra South Africa.

Bringing together over 7,000 attendees, the Mahindra Fusion Fest was an electrifying showcase of music, fashion, and art, reflecting the brand’s dynamic evolution in South Africa. Rooted in the ‘Discover the X’ philosophy, the festival celebrated exploration, self-expression, and the breaking of boundaries—values that define both Mahindra’s SUV range and its broader mission in South Africa.

The festival featured genre-defying musical performances, cutting-edge fashion inspired by automotive design, and live artistic expressions that brought Mahindra’s brand ethos to life. Beyond entertainment, the festival underscored Mahindra’s commitment to social impact. A one-of-a-kind art experience included a monumental sculpture designed by university students and live graffiti murals by young street artists, further cementing Mahindra’s support for emerging talent and creative expression. Moreover, Fusion Fest linked every aspect of the celebration to charitable causes, raising funds for 10 large charities and ensuring the festival’s legacy extended beyond a single event.

A Future Driven by Innovation and Community

As Mahindra embarks on its third decade in South Africa, the brand remains committed to driving innovation, fostering unity, and uplifting communities. “Mahindra has always believed in the power of bringing people together—through our vehicles, our partnerships, and our impact on society.
