In a celebration of Britain’s natural splendour and masterful craftsmanship, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars returns to London Craft Week with a breathtaking display of artisanal excellence. The marque’s presence at the prestigious event – held from 12 to 18 May 2025 – marks yet another milestone in its unwavering commitment to creativity, precision and storytelling through bespoke design.

Displayed in the window of the flagship Rolls-Royce showroom on Berkeley Street in Mayfair, this year’s contribution is a singular triptych artwork conceived and crafted by the artisans at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood. Drawing on the rich biodiversity of the British Isles, the installation presents a poetic exploration of woodland life across three distinct moments in time – day, evening and night – brought to life through an extraordinary symphony of materials and techniques.

Nature Reimagined: A Triptych in Three Acts

At the heart of the piece lies a recurring motif: the Kingfisher. Represented differently in each panel, the bird serves as a thread uniting the triptych’s changing lightscapes and atmospheric transitions, from the vibrancy of daybreak to the hush of night.

Swan Lake – A Morning Reverie

The journey begins at a tranquil lakeside, where artisans from the Exterior Surface Centre spent more than 100 hours hand-painting a scene that evokes the serenity of dawn. Two swans, elegant and ethereal, glide effortlessly across the water, while a Kingfisher hovers above – each stroke applied freehand with exceptional finesse.

The lake’s bordering reeds were meticulously shaped from aluminium and painted using a sophisticated blend of airbrushing, wet basecoat manipulation, and a delicate dappling technique. The effect is so vivid that morning dew appears to glisten on the foliage, enhanced by a clear coat finish that captures the ephemeral magic of early light.

Enchanted Woodland – An Evening Tapestry

As the day matures into evening, the artwork shifts into the forest’s amber glow. Here, the Interior Trim Centre artisans dedicated over 400 hours to capturing woodland life in its twilight calm. Using Scivaro Grey leather as their canvas, the team hand-painted delicate flora and applied a groundbreaking three-dimensional embroidery technique to recreate heartier plant species – a tactile effect that gives the piece both visual depth and structural complexity.

Amongst the flora, a hand-painted hare and squirrel emerge from the undergrowth, their forms realised with precision and character. To authentically replicate the squirrel’s signature bushy tail, the technique of tufting was employed, creating rich texture and a lifelike sense of movement.

Stealth After Dark – Into the Nocturne

The final act transports the viewer into the mystical allure of the night. Specialists from the Interior Surface Centre devoted over 500 hours to crafting this nocturnal scene using intricate marquetry – an ancient technique reimagined through modern innovation. A fox, silent and stealthy, prowls into view, its russet fur captured through the marque’s first-ever use of painted veneers. Colour was delicately applied to retain the natural beauty of the wood grain, marrying artistic expression with material authenticity.

This panel demonstrates Rolls-Royce’s expanding fluency in veneer artistry, showcasing a bold step forward in the brand’s pursuit of new textures, finishes and visual narratives.

A Testament to Bespoke Mastery

“This exquisite display of creativity and craftsmanship will be on display at our flagship showroom, in the heart of Mayfair, for the duration of the event in May,” said Boris Weletzky, Regional Director for the United Kingdom, Europe and Central Asia at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “At the very heart of our brand lies a deep commitment to creativity and artisanal excellence.”

The triptych embodies the essence of the Bespoke philosophy: an unyielding dedication to craftsmanship, innovation and the artistic spirit. Each scene tells a story not only of the natural world, but also of the immense skill and imagination that define the people behind the marque.

Craft Meets Legacy

Now in its eleventh year, London Craft Week continues to shine a spotlight on the world’s finest artisans and creators. For Rolls-Royce, participation in the event is more than a showcase – it is a celebration of the luxury house’s cultural values, a reaffirmation of its place within the broader narrative of British craft, and a moment to reflect on its unique ability to transform natural inspiration into timeless, hand-built art.

Visitors to Mayfair during London Craft Week 2025 will be treated to a rare opportunity: the chance to witness a modern interpretation of craftsmanship that bridges tradition with innovation – an ethos that has long defined Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
